Maple(From Wikipedia)
Acer (pronounced /ˈeɪsər/)[2] is a genus of trees or shrubs commonly known as Maple.

Maples are variously classified in a family of their own, the Aceraceae, or together with the Hippocastanaceae included in the family Sapindaceae. Modern classifications, including the Angiosperm Phylogeny Group system, favour inclusion in Sapindaceae. The type species of the genus is Acer pseudoplatanus (Sycamore Maple).[3]

There are approximately 129 species, most of which are native to Asia,[4] with a number also appearing in Europe, northern Africa, and North America.

The word Acer is derived from a Latin word meaning "sharp" (compare "acerbic"), referring to the characteristic points on maple leaves. It was first applied to the genus by the French botanist Joseph Pitton de Tournefort in 1700. A red maple leaf is the prominent feature of the flag of Canada.[5]

Kyūdō(From Wikipedia)
Kyūdō (弓道?), literally meaning "way of the bow", is the Japanese art of archery. It is a modern Japanese martial art (gendai budō) and practitioners are known as kyūdōka (弓道家?).

It is estimated that there are approximately half a million practitioners of kyūdō today.[citation needed] In 2005 the International Kyudo Federation had 132,760 graded members,[1] but in addition to this kyūdō is taught at Japanese schools and some traditions refrain from federation membership.
